Summary

IMLI stands for Independent Model Location Inversion. IMLI allows the optimization solver to fit the data in a way that is tolerant to small uncertainties in sensor positioning and orientation. This added flexibility helps improve the quality and stability of the recovered polarization attributes, particularly in real acquisition environments where minor platform and alignment errors are unavoidable.

IMLI Inversion option

When the IMLI option is checked, IMLI inversions will be generated in addition to the regular inversions.

When IMLI is checked with SOI, the regular SOI inversion will appear first, followed by the IMLI SOI. Here is an example using a POS time shifted IVS to simulate a poor positioning condition. The IMLI SOI are of higher quality, providing a higher match to the actual Small ISO library item.:

When IMLI is checked with 123, the regular 123 inversions will appear first (top six charts), followed by the IMLI inversion (bottom six charts). Here is an example using a POS time shifted IVS to simulate a poor positioning condition. The IMLI 123 inversions are of higher quality, providing a higher match to the actual Medium ISO library item.:
